2010 saw the introduction of this group of sailors, who are aged 8 – 10 years old, and who are part of family membership. This new activity was really popular both with the sailors and with the instructors.

To be able to put your child forward, your family MUST have been a full member of the club for at least 3 years. ADULT TO SIGN UP ON BEHALF OF CHILD, BUT WITH CHILDS DETAILS IN REGISTRATION FORM.

The little sailors will have a summer of sailing with the aim of them achieving their RYA stage 2, so they can move into club activities. If it is at all possible, a Stage 2 certificate will be awarded earlier and the sailor can then move to taking part in other club activities such as Fun Friday.

We hope to make the move to the main club activities as easy as possible for the Bandits, as we really want to help them stay in the sport for as long as possible.

It should be noted that the weather can provide some challenging conditions on occasion, which means that the Instructors will try to run a short shore-based session, before finishing the session early. With this age group we need to be careful that their interest is maintained and that they are kept as warm and as safe as possible.

Please ensure your child is properly equipped with warm clothing and an appropriately sized wetsuit, with full length arms and legs. Ideally with their own buoyancy aid too, as the club has a limited supply of very small buoyancy aids.

This activity will be running on Sunday mornings, throughout the season with the dates are below.

Sessions will start at 1030hrs and finish at 1230hrs.

Places are limited to 8 children.

Your child will have a place for the season; however, if your child misses more than 3 sessions, we will have to look at giving your place to someone else. It is a popular course, and it is run by volunteers, so attendance is something we watch carefully.

The training starts on 1st May, and will stop on 26th June, for a break over the summer holidays. Training will resume on 28th August and the final session will take place on 25th September.  The session planned for 5th June will not run, as the ELYC Regatta takes place on this weekend.

The total number of the sessions will be 13.

The cost for the whole course is £65.

Participants should be confident in the water and be able to swim 50m in light clothing
