Other Training Activities Places must be booked through the online booking system on www.elyc.org.uk Sailing a Double Hander Weekend – 22nd & 23rd May 2010 This course is to help give you the confidence to sail a double hander competently, develop communication skills, boat handling skills and be able to take out one of the club boats comfortably. Get Racing Thursdays This evening activity will take place throughout the season, and starts on 8th April with alternate weeks of coaching and racing, to help individuals (both adults and children) to develop their confidence and skills, and progress into racing regularly in the club racing programme. The club boats can be used during this activity, alongside those with their own boats. Places are limited in this activity to 12, and can be booked a week in advance by going to www.elyc.org.uk. You need JavaScript enabled to view it Fun Fridays A great activity for those who have just completed a beginners course, and are looking to develop their skills and confidence. The activities delivered in this evening are carefully programmed, to ensure a progression, and to help individuals move towards the ‘Get Racing Thursday’ activities, and start on 16th April. You need JavaScript enabled to view it Saturday Morning Race Coaching These clinics are again carefully planned, to help both adults and children progress towards not only achieving more RYA certificates, but also feeding into the club racing activities, which take place on Saturday afternoons and start on 17th April. You need JavaScript enabled to view it East Lothian YC ‘Bass Rock Bandits’ This is a new activity to bring in the younger members of the club, and is only open to members of the club who are between 8 and 10 years of age, and whose families have been members of the club for the last two years. It is intended that this activity will be aimed at those 8 – 10 year olds who have either done no sailing, or only done a little sailing. This activity will be running on Sunday mornings, throughout the season with the dates are below. Each session will start at 1030hrs and finish at 1230hrs. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ‘Girls Go Sailing Day’ This is a special one day sailing event, open to all the female members of the club, and intended to provide a fun relaxed day on the water, with opportunities to try your hand at not only sailing, but at driving a rescue boat too, as well as meet some of the other club members and develop your sailing skills. Powerboat Training The club has a very active racing and regatta programme, and there is always a need for competent powerboat drivers to help out with these activities. To that end, a programme of training courses will be created and emailed out to club members by the end of February2010. You must be a member of the club to participate in this training. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ELYC Regatta – Novice Racers Following on from the programme of Get Racing Thursdays , a novice racing fleet will take part in the ELYC Regatta on 5th & 6th June, where a separate start will be provided, and a coach on the water to help individuals get round the course will also be provided.
