Over this weekend (March 6^th and 7^th) a hardy 6 members survived the cold and completed the RYA Safety Boat Course which aims to introduce and develop techniques of using powerboats to provide safety and rescue boat cover for training and racing fleets.

Ben Wilcox, Lucy Robertson, Martin Scott, Sandro McClintock, Stewart Gibbons, and Philippa Marston all passed so well done to all of them! The course content included working with a number of types of dinghies and a windsurfer. Some local Kayakers were good enough to stop by and give an insight into their sport. This provided an understanding of how best to approach a Kayaker should they need assistance.

Big thanks go to Teri Clarke for providing a windsurfer and her time to run a session on windsurfing rescue techniques, and to the helpers and instructors for their involvement in various sessions over the weekend.

The club is planning to run several club orientated, non-certified, 1 day safety boat courses during 2010.
