From: "Alastair Skinner" To: "memberslist@elyc" Subject: [Memberslist] Volunteers for Regatta 7th - 8th June Date: 07 May 2008 09:54 All, The regatta is now only 41/2 weeks away and there is a lot to get organised for what is shaping up to be an even larger event than last year. We are contemplating running 3 separate race courses plus the yacht race so are relying on a lot of support and assistance from you all. Three courses means 3 fully crewed Committee Boats and a total of at least 12 Ribs, and a couple of Guard Boats. Details of times etc will be given later but Registration starts at 10.00 on the Saturday, Competitors Briefing at 12.00, and the first race at 13.00. Bar and Catering duties will be split into 2-3 hour slots and the Bar and Catering Convenors will be seeking around 12 -16 assistants each. ( Bar team led by David Robertson/Sandy Ford/Mike Millar, Catering team by Sheila Smith and Vicki) Committee Boats - We will need around 12 spotters to assist on the three Committee Boats under Jimmy Sandison, Ted Hill and David Lumbard With a fleet of 12 Rescue Boats, some coming with owner drivers, and two Guard Boats, we are looking for a number of experienced Cox and a lot of Assistant Cox for each day. On shore we also require 2 or 3 people to assist Jim and Jenny Montgomery with organising and controling the dinghy parking on the esplanade, and another couple of people to assist Alastair McIntyre and Ian Kirkpatrick with Registration. We also still have a gap for a qualified Doctor or First Aider to be available onshore and would appreciate any help which can be given in the week before with preparation of marks and other equipment. In particular we will be erecting the marquee on the evening of Wednesday 4th June and Bob Simpson needs a minimum squad of 10 and preferrably more. Please let myself or one of the Convenors know as soon as possible what help you can give and we will draw up the duty lists. E mail me at commodore@elyc.org or phone me on 01620 860 534 . Lets keep up the momentum and great reputation that ELYC has developed for friendly well organised events. Thanks Alastair Skinner Commodore
