From: "webmaster David" To: Subject: [Memberslist] flushing Russell with muffs Date: 03 August 2008 11:22 message from Ted Hill for anyone washing down Russell : 1. An idea seems to have circulated that the Honda engine on Russell doesn't need a telltale of circulating water when it is being flushed. 2. This is not so and if there is no telltale then the engine must be switched off....!!!! 3. The cause of lack of telltale in spite of muffs being correctly positioned, is lack of water pressure. 4. This can be solved by the following. Use the newer muffs fitted with the nozzle provided which connects to the Hazelock connector on the hose at the Sun Parlour store. The newly fitted propguard helps to squeeze on the muffs. The muffs can be squeezed by hand but this is inherently dangerous and should not be done. 5. In any case, the Honda engine should not be flushed without the telltale. Better not to flush than overheat the engine and potentially wreck it.
