ELYC
Training
ELYC sail training aims to introduce as many people as possible to the enjoyment of the sport of sailing, and to help them progress and develop. A variety of RYA certified courses are run throughout the year for both adults and cadets both on the water and onshore.
Thanks to generous funding from a variety of sources the club have a fleet of 12 Toppers, 4 Fevas, and 4 Laser 2000s. We also have 4 ribs which we use for teaching powerboat skills and as rescue craft for dinghy training and racing.
Training activities will run no matter what the weather in 2012, to ensure that as many opportunities as possible are given for personal development, so please do make sure that you attend any training that you have booked – the instructors will have made every effort to provide you with a quality session, even if they can’t get you out on the water, and it is disappointing when people don’t turn up for sessions. The instructors are volunteers, and put considerable effort into providing top quality training at one of Scotland’s top training venues.
Please note that certificates are awarded through the RYA scheme, and only awarded when skills can be shown at the correct level. The club takes no responsibility for the completion of certificates, where possible we will try to help out but it is important that all sailors and powerboaters present themselves with the right skill level for the course they wish to do. For more information on the standard that you need to be prior to attending a course please either take a look at your logbook, or look at the following weblinks:
