"Crew shall nominate which mainsail size they will use before the regatta starts – small or standard.  Crew may change their mainsail size for any one or more days during the regatta. They shall prior notify the Race Committee or Shore Team before changing not later than one hour before the first warning signal for the race affected by the change of rig. For races that a sailor uses a different size sail to that originally nominated, their point score will be increased by 10% of the fleet size, to a maximum of the fleet size+1. Grand Master and Legend sailors are exempt from the penalty and are not required to provide notification for a change of sail size. Failure of other sailors to notify the Race Committee or Shore Team may result in a DSQ from one or more races."

Visit East Lothian have information about places to stay in and around North Berwick.

East Lothian Yacht Club is looking forward to welcoming the Musto Skiff fleet to Scotland for their National Championships in 2026.

ELYC is situated on the East coast of Scotland in North Berwick, an attractive and much loved seaside town near Edinburgh. An incredibly popular holiday destination, North Berwick is blessed with a variety of accommodation options ranging from nearby campsites to self catering apartments, guest houses and hotels.

For those not sailing or on rest days, East Lothian has plenty of attractions to visit including a vast array of historical sites, nature walks, cycle routes and is also home to Scotland's famous Golf Coast. Edinburgh is only 30 minutes away by train for those seeking a serious dose of culture.

For major events such as the Musto Skiff UK Nationals, a convenient dinghy park is setup on the Elcho Green. This provides easy access to the launch area on the sandy beach of the west bay, which is just a short & pleasant walk from the ELYC clubhouse.

Depending on wind direction and sea state, we have a choice of race areas, both of which are a short sail from the west bay via the fairway. Our Beach Team will be on hand to provide launch assistance and trolley retrieval, if required. Our RIB teams will help usher you through the fairway to the race track.

The race area to the East typically provides steady breeze and some great waves that make for truly exciting sailing, all under the watchful gaze of The Bass Rock which provides an enviable backdrop.

If you're sailing well, it's not unusual for schools of dolphins to surface alongside to applaud your efforts. However, it is unlikely they will offer you a tow.

The Principal Race Officer also has the option of setting up courses to the west of the harbour, which provides an equally picturesque arena in which to sail, between two other well known local landmarks, The Lamb and Craigleith.

After a successful (we trust) day on the water what better way to relax and recover than with some delicious food, cask ales, spirits and wine, all served at our fantastic Clubhouse by our welcoming members.
